"Prior to leaving my job as a car salesman in 1994, I had played and enjoyed most of my golf as a 16 handicap social/competitive golfer. Playing only once a week and enjoying the social aspect of the game with no thoughts of ever taking my golf any further. Then Derek Johnson, our previous Club Professional, asked me to caddy for him in several events he was playing. This proved to be an eye opener for me. Watching Derek at work on the course and listening to him as he worked out which shots to play, helped me to rapidly reduce my handicap from 16 to 7.
With Derek's continued encouragement I set about practising every day and over the next few months managed to get my handicap down to my lowest ever. Then in 1996 I turned Professional and embarked on my PGA training with Derek taking me on as his assistant.
I qualified in 2000 and when Derek left to further his career, I was honoured to be offered the General Manager/ PGA Professional position at Calverley Golf Club.
During my time here at Calverley, I have been priviliged to play for and represent the club at almost all levels and this club and it's members past and present mean more to me than anyone could ever comprehend - this is where my heart is and always will be."
