Hole 1

Hole 1A testing opening par 4, mainly straight with a slight right hand dogleg in its last 100 yards, bunker guarding the left hand side of the green

Pro's Tip

Avoid the right side of the fairway, a good drive down the left hand side of the fairway sets up a mid iron approach to the green.

Hole 2

Hole 2A straight par four with a blind tee shot through a gap in the trees, a pond front right and a bunker to the left protect the green.

Pro's Tip

A straight drive between the trees will set up a short iron approach to the green. The green tends to fall away from front to back and it is often advantageous to aim for the front left of the green to allow the ball to release down the green.

Hole 3

Hole 3Short par three guarded by bunkers front right and left, out of bounds to the right in the greenkeeper’s compound.

Pro's Tip

All the danger is short so make sure you take enough club to carry the front bunkers.

Hole 4

Hole 4Short par four with out of bounds to the right that is driveable for the big hitters. The fairway is essentially straight and falls away in the last sixty yards to a green that has a bunker to the right.

Pro's Tip

If you are a big hitter you may wish to have a go for the green here, the line is just to the right of the two large trees in the left hand rough at the end of the fairway, otherwise a tee shot down the right half of the fairway will leave a short iron approach shot.

Hole 5

Hole 5Calverley’s signature hole, a lovely little par three played over an old quarry with superb views out over Baildon Moor. Out of bounds lurks long and right of the green and the land falls away severely to the wooded left hand side of the hole.

Pro's Tip

Don’t be intimidated by the quarry it is only a short carry to clear the danger and there is a lot of room in front of the green, all the danger is at green length and beyond.

Hole 6

Hole 6A tough uphill par three played to a raised green set in the trees and guarded by bunkers front right and left.

Pro's Tip

An accurate tee shot is required here to score well, left of the green is definitely to be avoided. Those of you who get a shot here of your handicaps may want to think about laying up with a short iron and chipping on.

Hole 7

Hole 7A short downhill par four played from in the trees to a green protected to the front by a water hazard. Out of bounds runs all down the right of this hole and is tight to the right of the green.

Pro's Tip

A tee shot down the right half of the fairway sets up an approach shot to the green that is playing away from the out of bounds and into the deepest part of the green.

Hole 8

Hole 8A nice par four hole with a sharp right hand dogleg to a green with a bunker cut into its right hand side. A stream crosses the fairway just short of the green and out of bounds runs all down the right of this hole.

Pro's Tip

For all but the biggest hitters play left of the large trees in a direct line off the tees, there is plenty of fairway and this will give you a clear second shot.

Hole 9

Hole 9Par five with a right-angled dogleg to the right after two hundred and twenty five yards. The field to the right of hole inside the dogleg is out of bounds and must be carried if you take on the corner. The green is raised on the right side and protected by a bunker to the left.

Pro's Tip

Unless you can carry two hundred and thirty yards consistently with your drive do not take on the corner, play your tee shot up the left half of the fairway and accept that it will take at least three to reach the green. If you are running your approach shot into the green aim for the left edge of the green as the land falls away to the right slightly.
