Board Competitions

The Committee has decided to suspend the requirement of 8 Medal/ S/F qualifiers for Board Competitions and replace it with a requirement to have played regularly with the section during a period prior to the date of the competition.

Regularly is defined as having played in at least 6 £1 games in the preceding 3 months.

This decision has been taken to hopefully enable more members to participate in Board games.

What is not wanted is for someone who is not an active and regular member of the section just entering for Board games.

This arrangement is in the nature of a trial and of it is not thought to be working properly or is seen to be abused then the qualifiers will be reinstated.

The section is open to any member of Calverley Golf Club aged 55 or over.  Joining fee is £10 plus new members are required to buy a Senior Section tie wearing of which is compulsory at certain Section organised events.  Annual subscription is currently £5.

The Section is run by a committee comprising of Chairman, Secretary, Competition Secretary, Treasurer, Captain, Vice Captain, Retiring Captain and two elected members. Elections to the committee are conducted at the AGM which is held in December.

The committee organise games every Tuesday and Thursday 8.15am.-10.00am. Including several competitions for Trophies and Honours Board.  They also organise Away days and Charity matches and Friendly Matches against other clubs.  The Section also enters a team in the L. Batley league.  In addition the Section organises an Invitation Day in June, open to Seniors from other clubs, where section members are requested to invite a partner from outside the club.

The Section has a weekly prize draw [£1] which helps pay for the Christmas Dinner and Trophies.  The Dinner and presentation of trophies takes place on the afternoon of the AGM.

The names and contact numbers of the committee and fixtures can be found in the Club Handbook.
